We are seeking an experienced, talented and dedicated
New Product Development (NPD) Engineer
to join our team to provide proactive first line support to the Aftersales team partners and customers directly, to achieve sales targets for increased revenue and sales growth.
Key responsibilities:
- Performing market research to understand market requirements for new product development
- Identifying the needs of the Company and integrating market research to determine the needs and goals of new products
- Conceptualising new product ideas by using AutoCAD software to design prototypes
- Utilising already proven Bulk Materials Handling equipment knowledge to complement the existing products within the SAMSON portfolio, while producing new product concepts and designs
• Ensure compliance with all relevant specifications, including but not limited to, the NPD team
- Ensure compliance with all relevant specifications, including but not limited to, the NPD team specifications, SAMSON standards and procedures, national and international directives and standards
- Develop and improve product cost competitiveness, encouraging and promoting the use of standardisation, proven design and low cost quality suppliers
- Carry out initial preliminary structural calculations of new designs to ensure they are close to the final requirements before utilising external support providers for final sign-off
- Oversee all external engineering support providers, ensuring calculations and technical solutions are delivered professionally, accurately and to the correct standards
- Ensure adequate quality control measures are implemented and supported throughout the execution of each new product
- Liaise with key suppliers from proposal/costing phase of a project through execution, ensuring all Group Guidance Rules are adhered to, and best practice observed to maintain both price and quality
• Responsible for managing and controlling all technical aspects to underpin continuous improvement

- Testing products throughout the design process to troubleshoot any potential problems
- Performing market research to understand market requirements for new product development
- Review the scope and specification of new product requirements as early as possible to identify risks and solutions to mitigate risks
- Provide good quality, cost effective, efficient and safe design solutions
- Ensure all design specifications are executed and checked in line with SAMSON quality assurance system
- Take personal responsibility for the accuracy and delivery of quality design specifications
- Any other task which may be reasonably requested
